We put in an offer on a house in Austin yesterday, but we were the fifth offer in a matter of hours and we weren't taken up on it. We aren't bummed, but we are tired. The house isn't exactly what we want (its too small, it needs a number of energy efficiency upgrades like windows and insulation, its in our personally designated second tier school list, and it just needs work). BUT it has a good feel in its flow and layout, it has room to add a studio and possibly a second story, and it is one of the only houses we've seen that I can see us falling in love with someday. After some work. The pictures on Zillow make it look more polished than it is, but here you go:

Just out of curiousity, if you end up purchasing a house down there, what are you thinking about doing with the house in Hawthorne?
ReplyDeleteThere are a number of options on the table, but we aren't there yet.
DeleteBuying a house suggests that you are planning on staying here for another school year. So hopefully you'll be able to make a side trip to Katy in that time. R.
ReplyDeleteVery interesting. Is that your first offer, or have their been others? Just curious to hear what/where you're looking.
ReplyDeleteIt did have a nice, open floorplan. Something I envy.
We have walked through many, many homes and with a few retreated into a serious discussion about an offer, but this is the only offer we've made. And, it sort of felt like the music stopped, and we had to take a seat somewhere so give it a whirl. It is a tough market, and most of the houses are simply crappy (does anyone take care of their home anymore?). The houses we like best are all so very, very expensive and I don't want to move badly enough to spend through our savings to do it. So, we'll be coming home in 10 days. Although, we're still looking at listings, hoping for a winner!
DeleteNo idea why I'm listed as unknown. That (and this) are from Beeman.
